Fiscal Responsibility
The State of Kansas entered the 2010 legislative session with a budget shortfall of almost $500 Million. The shortfall can be traced to reckless spending and a lack of foresight. This decade has seen the government grow 45%. This growth has outpaced revenue growth. It is time now for leadership, responsibility, accountability and results.
Education
Education makes up in excess of 50% of the State budget. I know first hand the opportunities a strong educational system creates, and how important early childhood education is to development. Healthy education promotes business growth, job creation, and extends the tax base. I believe in local control on how dollars are spent, and continuing to maintain and improve the quality of education. The 2010 legislature slashed school district funding. It is time now for leadership, responsibility, accountability and results.
Energy
Kansas has a unique opportunity to become a provider of clean energy. We can help make this State and country a better place for generations to come through leadership, responsibility, accountability and results.
