First and foremost, I am engaged to my wonderful fiancée, Elizabeth Brown, who has welcomed this opportunity and is ready to help with the campaign.
As a lifetime, farm-raised Kansan, I have had the opportunity to not only learn the values that make our State great, I have been able to practice them. Leadership, responsibility, and accountability led me down several roads that brought about positive results. My early childhood was forged while raising and showing animals which would later be sold through Johnson County 4-H. I became the youngest loan customer at a local bank to finance a John Deere mower and start a lawn business. These values, along with strong family ties and work ethic, put me in a position to understand the needs of the state.
Education
I graduated from the Blue Valley School District . As such, I have great respect for the quality of education that this State and community has to offer. While in high school, I was a section leader for the band, played basketball, golf, and served many community-based organizations. I believe that education is the foundation for our future, it could not, and should not be compromised in any way. The excellence of our school system prepared me for the University of Kansas.
I received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas with an emphasis in Finance, and a minor in Communications. My hard work and dedication allowed me to complete this work in four years while maintaining year round employment. While at KU, I served as Vice President and President of the Undergraduate Business Council, an organization which was re-founded partially by myself during my tenure. As president I oversaw the organization start a business, distribute educational appropriated funds and generate over $25,000 in profit to be used on business student activities. These activities and education unequivocally prepared me for the next steps in life.
